The Makaatib System
At the heart of Miftahuddin's educational mission is the Makaatib system — a network of Islamic schools that instils Qur'anic literacy and Islamic character in children from their earliest years. Besides empowering children through education, the Makaatib serve as their primary connection to the Deen of Islam, essential to the preservation of their Imaan and Islamic identity.
This network extends well beyond Kimberley, reaching small towns across the vast Northern Cape and into the Free State — including dedicated provision for a Hifz class, a girls' Madrasah with boarding, and Madrasah classes held within correctional facilities. There are four such facilities in the Northern Cape — two in Kimberley, one in Douglas and one in Upington — as well as two in the Free State.
Seeking knowledge is highly valued in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim." Promoting education in this spirit helps fulfil that duty and empowers our community.

Makaatib and Social Welfare
Since our Makaatib are in predominantly disadvantaged areas, the majority of the students arrive hungry at Madressah. Their first meal was probably at the beginning of the day before going to school. Some go hungry and only eat again at night. There is therefore a need to give them some sort of provision to continue for the day.
Thus, Alhamdulillah, all the Makaatib in Kimberley — and one of the Maktabs outside of Kimberley — have snacks provided every day to the students, and a hot, freshly prepared meal is given to them on Fridays. Occasionally, this is extended to the other Makaatib outside of Kimberley as well, as and when we are able to.
A Network Across Two Provinces
Alhamdulillah, effort in the vast Northern Cape is ongoing. The Northern Cape alone makes up approximately 30% of the total area of South Africa, meaning travel between our Makaatib and Masaajid is fairly challenging — yet much progress continues to be made each year.
Beyond the Makaatib
Miftahuddin also sponsors students studying in various local Madrasahs — assisting with travel, clothing and meals — as well as students pursuing advanced Islamic scholarship in Darul Ulooms and other institutes of learning. Aid has also been extended to underprivileged students pursuing a secular course of their choice, and feeding schemes ensure that no child attending our Maktab goes hungry.

Madrassah Tamim ul Banaat
Madrassah Tamim ul Banaat is Miftahuddin's boarding Madressah for girls — part of the wider Makaatib network described above, giving female students structured Islamic education alongside safe, residential accommodation for the duration of their Deeni studies.
