Our Reach, in Numbers

A need was seen many years ago that the spirit of Qurbani has to be revived in Kimberley and the Northern Cape, and Alhamdulillah Maulana M.E. Jeena, after consultation with his elders, decided to have a Qurbani camp in Kimberley, where people will be encouraged to slaughter the animals as well as fulfil the Sunnah as a solution to those who are in need.

Keeping that in mind, it was started. Currently it takes place in two areas in Kimberley — Roodepan and Colville.

On the first day, approximately 250 sheep are slaughtered, and another 150 or so over the next two days. Distribution takes place of a greater portion of the meat in the days of Qurbani, with food being cooked and fed to those who are present, and meat parcels distributed to those who are present.

Besides that, every other part of the animal is also distributed — the kop (head), the pootjies (feet), and so on.

It also serves as a form of Dawah to the non-Muslims, where Hadhrat Maulana M.E. Jeena himself, whether it is hot or cold, will stand on the Mimbar and give Dawah to all the non-Muslims who are waiting for a small parcel at the end of the day.

Alhamdulillah, it has become a way and means for many people entering into Islam, and many people's perception of Islam has also changed due to them seeing the generosity of the Muslims and the Ukhuwwah of the Muslims.
